NL // Step up! In maart 2023 neemt het Café Theater Festival opnieuw Utrecht, Arnhem en Rotterdam over. Daarom zijn wij op zoek naar nieuwe makers die hun voorstellingen dicht op de huid van een groot en divers publiek willen maken. Het festival richt zich op professionele podiumkunstenaars die aan het begin van hun carrière staan. Alle genres, stijlen en talen zijn welkom. Het CTF streeft ernaar de diversiteit in het programma verder te vergroten en nodigt makers van alle verschillende achtergronden om zich aan te melden.
Makers en artiesten kunnen zich aanmelden via de website van het CTF. Het concept moet zijn toegespitst op de context van een horecagelegenheid en kan schriftelijk of via een videopitch worden ingediend. Een diploma aan een theateropleiding is geen vereiste: ook selfmade makers, of makers in het laatste jaar van hun opleiding zijn meer dan welkom.
Begeleidingstraject
Het CTF is hét springplankfestival voor makers die zich willen ontwikkelen op het gebied van locatietheater en wordt elk jaar weer bezocht door vele scouts en programmeurs van andere festivals en podia. Na een selectie van vierentwintig gezelschappen of makers werken deelnemers het gepitchte concept uit voor een van de deelnemende horecazaken, van cafés tot koffie- en eethuizen.
Door deelname aan het festival ontwikkelen de artiesten hun eigen signatuur, breiden ze hun netwerk uit en presenteren ze zichzelf aan een nieuw en groot (20.000+) publiek. In hun maaktraject worden de gezelschappen artistiek maar ook zakelijk begeleid door het CTF, met een eigen artistieke coach en workshops gericht op artistieke ontwikkeling, marketing en ondernemerschap.
Het team van het CTF is erg aanmoedigend, transparant en ontzettend fijn om mee samen te werken. Het CTF heeft ook ons netwerk en publiek vergroot en er zijn nog veel andere speelplekken uit voortgekomen. Kortom, een aanrader voor elke nieuwe maker!

Wie een pakkend idee heeft voor een voorstelling die dicht op de huid van het publiek speelt, kan zich uiterlijk 3 oktober inschrijven via www.cafetheaterfestival.nl/opencall. Wie geprogrammeerd wordt, werkt diens concept uit in de horecazaak en laat zich inspireren door de ruimte, sfeer en verhalen van deze plek.

ENG // In March 2023, the Café Theater Festival will once again take over the cities of Utrecht, Arnhem and Rotterdam. Up-and-coming performing artists looking to perform in front of a large and diverse crowd can now respond to the open call. The CTF focuses on professional performing artists who are at the beginning of their careers and who are interested in creating intimate performances to be performed in a variety of hospitality establishments. The CTF aims to further increase diversity in its program and invites performing artists of all different backgrounds and styles to apply.
Performing artists can apply for the festival by submitting a performance concept tailored to the context of a hospitality establishment. Recent or soon to be graduates as well as self-made performing artists are welcome.
Training Program
The CTF is the number one festival for performing artists looking to gain experience and expertise in the field of site-specific theater and is visited every year by a multitude of scouts and programmers from a variety of festivals and venues. After the selection of 24 solo performers or groups, their concepts will be further developed for one of the participating hospitality establishments, ranging from bars to coffeehouses and museum cafes.
By participating in the festival, artists can develop their signature styles, expand their networks, and present themselves to new audiences. They receive artistic as well as professional guidance, with their own artistic coach and workshops aimed at artistic development, marketing, and entrepreneurship.
The Café Theater Festival was a great opportunity to experiment and explore the values of the art we stand for. It gave us the chance to make the audience part of our performance’s world, which was an extremely beautiful experience.

Participate
Performing artists with plans for exciting site-specific performances are encouraged to submit their concepts via www.cafetheaterfestival.nl/en/opencall no later than October 3. Performances in all languages are welcome. The selected artists will develop their concepts in their designated hospitality establishments, inspired by the spaces, atmospheres, and stories of the places.
