Springen in de Hofvijver, de Zuidas blokkeren, banners droppen van Shellgebouwen, jezelf vastlijmen in etalages van grote winkelketens. Waarom toch al die moeite? ‘Niet omdat ik dit wil, maar omdat het móet.’
In DWARSLIGGERS de musical gaan De Amazones de strijd aan met alle worstelingen van het dagelijks leven van een klimaatactivist. Een strijd waarin angst, euforie, schaamte, hoop, depressie en liefde elkaar continu afwisselen. Deze strijd wordt bezongen in kwetsbare elektronische popsongs en teksten rechtstreeks uit het hart van echte rebellen.

Jumping into the Hofvijver, blocking the Zuidas, dropping banners from Shell buildings, gluing yourself to the windows of large chain stores. Why go to all that trouble? Not because I want to, but because I have to.
In DWARSLIGGERS the musical, De Amazones go into battle against all the struggles of the daily life of a climate activist. A struggle in which fear, euphoria, shame, hope, depression and love constantly alternate. This struggle is sung about in vulnerable electronic pop songs and lyrics straight from the heart of real rebels.

NL // De Amazones is een nieuw muziektheatercollectief dat bestaat uit Ayla van Summeren, Willemijn Böcker, Judith Boesen en Pepijn van den Berg. Zij zijn allemaal afgestudeerd van de opleiding Muziektheater van Codarts Rotterdam en ook zijn zij allen actief bij de klimaatbeweging Extinction Rebellion. Op een luchtige manier willen zij maatschappelijk geëngageerde thematieken aankaarten en hun vak gebruiken als een kunstzinnige en vernieuwende vorm van activisme.
ENG // De Amazones is a new music theater collective consisting of Ayla van Summeren, Willemijn Böcker, Judith Boesen and Pepijn van den Berg. They all graduated from the Music Theatre programme at Codarts Rotterdam and they are also all active in the climate movement Extinction Rebellion. In a light-hearted way, they want to address social issues and use their profession as an artistic and innovative form of activism.
