NL // In maart 2024 neemt het Café Theater Festival opnieuw Utrecht, Arnhem en Rotterdam over. Daarom zijn wij op zoek naar nieuwe makers die hun voorstellingen dicht op de huid van een groot en divers publiek willen maken. Het festival richt zich op professionele podiumkunstenaars die aan het begin van hun carrière staan. Alle genres, stijlen en talen zijn welkom. Het CTF streeft naar diversiteit in alle opzichten in het programma en nodigt makers van alle achtergronden uit om zich aan te melden.
Makers en artiesten kunnen zich aanmelden via de website van het CTF. Het concept moet zijn toegespitst op de context van een horecagelegenheid en kan schriftelijk of via een videopitch worden ingediend. Een diploma aan een theateropleiding is geen vereiste: ook selfmade makers, of makers in het laatste jaar van hun opleiding zijn meer dan welkom.
Begeleidingstraject
Het CTF is een springplankfestival voor makers die zich willen ontwikkelen op het gebied van locatietheater dicht op de huid van het publiek en wordt elk jaar weer bezocht door vele scouts en programmeurs van andere festivals en podia. De vierendertig geselecteerde makers of gezelschappen werken het gepitchte concept uit tot een voorstelling in een van de deelnemende horecazaken, van cafés tot koffie- en eethuizen.
Door deelname aan het festival ontwikkelen de artiesten hun eigen signatuur, breiden ze hun netwerk uit en presenteren ze zichzelf aan een nieuw en groot (20.000+) publiek. In hun maaktraject worden de gezelschappen artistiek maar ook zakelijk begeleid door het CTF, met een eigen artistieke coach en workshops gericht op artistieke ontwikkeling, marketing en ondernemerschap. Daarnaast wordt aan het einde van het festival een publieksprijs uitgereikt.

Meedoen
Wie een pakkend idee heeft voor een voorstelling die dicht op de huid van het publiek speelt, kan zich uiterlijk 2 oktober inschrijven via deze pagina. Wie geprogrammeerd wordt, werkt diens concept uit in de horecazaak en laat zich inspireren door de ruimte, sfeer en verhalen van deze plek. Ieder gezelschap ontvangt een vergoeding tussen de €1000 en €3500, afhankelijk van het aantal performers. Voor gezelschappen die ook in Arnhem en/of Rotterdam spelen zijn aanvullende vergoedingen beschikbaar. Alle edities van het CTF 2024 vinden plaats in februari en maart.
ENG // In March 2024, the Café Theater Festival will once again take over Utrecht, Arnhem and Rotterdam. Therefore, we are looking for new theatre makers who want to create their performances close to a large and diverse audience. The festival is aimed at professional performing artists who are at the beginning of their careers. All genres, styles, and languages are welcome. CTF strives for diversity in all aspects of the program and invites creators from all backgrounds to apply.
Makers and artists can apply through the CTF website. The concept should be tailored to the context of a hospitality venue and can be submitted in writing or through a video pitch. A theater degree is not a requirement: self-made makers or makers in the final year of their education are more than welcome.
Mentoring Program
The CTF is a festival for up and coming makers who want to develop in the field of site-specific theater close to the audience and is visited every year by many scouts and programmers from other festivals and venues. The thirty-four selected makers or ensembles develop the pitched concept into a performance in one of the participating hospitality venues, from cafes to coffee and dining houses.By participating in the festival, artists develop their own signature, expand their network, and present themselves to a new and large (20,000+) audience. In their creative process, the ensembles are artistically and commercially guided by CTF, with their own artistic coach and workshops focused on artistic development, marketing and entrepreneurship. In addition, a Audience Choice Award is presented at the end of the festival.

Participation
Anyone with a compelling idea for a performance that engages closely with the audience can register before 2 October via this page. Those selected will develop their concept in the hospitality venue and draw inspiration from the space, atmosphere and stories of that place. Each ensemble will receive compensation ranging from €1000 to €3500, depending on the number of performers. Additional compensation is available for ensembles performing in Arnhem and/or Rotterdam. All editions of CTF 2024 will take place in February and March.
