Een scold was in de renaissance een luide, onaangepaste vrouw. Wie zich schuldig maakte aan scolding kreeg een kooi om haar hoofd met een bit in de mond. In deze intieme, muzikale performance ontketent theatermaker Sofie Kramer de scold in zichzelf: kwetsbaar, vurig en goudeerlijk.

A scold in the Renaissance was a loud, maladjusted woman. Anyone guilty of scolding was given a cage around her head with a bit in her mouth. In this intimate, musical performance, playwright Sofie Kramer unleashes the scold within herself: vulnerable, fiery and golden.

NL // Sofie Kramer is theatermaker en performer. In 2019 studeerde zij af aan de regie-opleiding van Toneelacademie Maastricht. Vanuit een grote liefde voor muziek en beeldende kunst ontwikkelde zij een eigenzinnige, sterk beeldende theatertaal waarin muzikaliteit en lichamelijkheid centraal staan. Het vechtende lichaam is een terugkerend thema in haar werk: het lichaam dat vecht tegen de tijd, de zwaartekracht, en de blik van de ander. Dat gevecht laat ze zien in rauwe, persoonlijke performances waarin ze telkens experimenteert met nieuwe vormen van theater.

ENG // Sofie Kramer is a playwright and performer. In 2019, she graduated from the directing program at Toneelacademie Maastricht. From a great love for music and visual art, she developed a distinctive, strongly visual theater language in which musicality and physicality are central. The fighting body is a recurring theme in her work: the body that fights against time, gravity and the gaze of the other. She depicts this struggle in raw, personal performances in which she constantly experiments with new forms of theater.
