NL // Welkom bij de Algemene Leden Vergadering voor kwelgeesten!

U bent allemaal van harte uitgenodigd voor een geheimzinnige vergadering. In het grote mysterieuze bos komen we samen om de agenda van dit jaar door te nemen: wat verstaan we onder een goede professionele ‘kwelling’, hoe ‘kwel’ je verantwoord? Met de input van de mens hopen we wijzer te worden hoe we het effectiefst kunnen kwellen. Wordt het misschien tijd om een nieuwe weg in te slaan? Zijn we als kwelgeesten nog wel nodig? Kwelt de mens zichzelf niet al genoeg?

Kwelgeesten komen in vele Nederlandse volksverhalen voor, maar raken toch in de vergetelheid. RAM zorgt er voor dat deze geesten op muzikale wijze weer tot leven komen. Met invloeden van Oost-Europese volksmuziek – waar de volksverhalen nog springlevend zijn – en met een vleugje mystiek, onderzoekt RAM of de mythes van toen, vandaag de dag nog steeds impact hebben en er nog toe doen.

ENG // Welcome to the General Members Meeting for Goblins!

You are all warmly invited to a mysterious gathering. In the vast and enigmatic forest, we come together to discuss this year’s agenda: what constitutes a good professional “torment” and how to inflict it responsibly. With human input, we hope to gain wisdom on the most effective ways to torment. Is it perhaps time to embark on a new path? Are we, as tormentors, still needed? Doesn’t humanity torment itself enough?

Goblins, known for tormenting, appear in many Dutch folklore tales, yet they are fading into oblivion. RAM ensures these spirits come back to life through music. With influences from Eastern European folk music, where folklore remains vibrant, and a touch of mystique, RAM explores whether the myths of old still have impact and relevance in today’s world.

NL // Wij zijn RAM, een jong Arnhems muziektheatercollectief, bestaande uit Mijn Sluijs, Rosa Berman en Mette Oskamp. We zijn alle drie afgestudeerd aan ArtEZ Muziektheater, waar we elkaar hebben ontmoet. We zijn gefascineerd door mythische figuren, volksverhalen en gezongen volksmuziek. Wij werken vanuit existentiële filosofische thema’s die ons allemaal verbinden. In onze debuutvoorstelling Lost&Found hebben we voor Café Theater Festival op locatie in een café een wereld gecreëerd waar het publiek de kans kreeg om hun route in het leven te veranderen. We schonken de mensen hun lot in, waarbij ze de keuze hadden om hun glas leeg te drinken, en zo opnieuw te beginnen, of niet. We werken graag op locatie, daar kan je het publiek meer verrassen en een ervaring bieden, omdat je als publiek de regels nooit van tevoren weet. Wij voelen ons op locatie het meest vrij om die wereld naar onze hand te zetten en de codes voor het publiek te creëren.

ENG // We are RAM, a young music theater collective from Arnhem, consisting of Mijn Sluijs, Rosa Berman, and Mette Oskamp. All three of us graduated from ArtEZ, where we met. We are fascinated by mythical characters, folklore, and sung folk music. We work with existential philosophical themes that connect us all. In our debut performance, Lost&Found” created for the Café Theater Festival in a café setting, we built a world where the audience had the opportunity to change their path in life. We handed people their destiny, giving them the choice to drink their glass empty and start anew or not. We enjoy working on location because it allows us to surprise the audience and provide a unique experience. As an audience, you never know the rules beforehand. We feel most free to shape that world and create codes for the audience in a location-based setting.
