NL // ZWAANMEER is een muzikaal #metooballet waarin hiphop-theatercollectief DIEHELEDING de grenzen opzoekt van lichamelijke intimiteit. De onbetrouwbare lichaamstaal wordt gecanceled, om er rappend op beat achter te komen welke versies van consent er bestaan. Twee spelers, onze Prins en zwanenvrouw Odette, onderzoeken rappend en rausmachend hoe ze zich tot elkaar moeten verhouden in hun ouderwetse tutu’s, en krijgen een stem om los te breken uit de rollen die ze al decennia lang moeten dansen. Een humoristische voorstelling als aanklacht op consent-loze sprookjes, die tegelijkertijd het
grijze gebied van intimiteit in de kunsten laat zien.

ENG // ZWAANMEER is a musical #metooballet in which the Hip Hop theater collective DIEHELEDING explores the boundaries of physical intimacy. The unreliable body language is canceled, and they rap on beat to discover the various versions of consent that exist. Two players, our Prince and swan-woman Odette, investigate through rap and raucous movements how they should relate to each other in their old-fashioned tutus, and they find a voice to break free from the roles they have been dancing for decades.

This humorous performance serves as a protest against fairy tales lacking consent while simultaneously shedding light on the gray area of intimacy in the arts.

ENG // DIEHELEDING is een Utrechts muziektheatercollectief dat sinds 2016 voorstellingen maakt met als voornaamste genre hiphop, waarbij we onze eigen teksten schrijven en onze eigen muziek
produceren. DIEHELEDING bestaat uit kernleden Steven Ivo, Merel Pauw en Jip Vuik (met als vaste
gastspelers en makers o.a. Dalorim Wartes, Nick Livramento Silva, Julie Mughunda), zakelijke leiding door Juul Spoor.

Eerdere successen waren Lil’ Ariel Black (2017) en Fox Populi, de theaterhit van de Parade in 2018.
Van 2019 – 2021 maakten we in de Nieuwe Makersregeling van het FPK met DOX en Theater Utrecht
de voorstellingen 1001 (2019), DIEHELEDING KOMT (2020), Fokking Akward (2020) en Dashboard (2021). In 2019 wonnen we de DOX AWARD. In 2022 kreeg DIEHELEDING een zilveren krekel voor De Baron van Munchhausen (7+) in samenwerking met Theater Sonnevanck. Daarnaast werden we in NRC genoemd als beste theatertekst van 2022 en een van de beste jeugdtheaterproducties van 2022. Naast het maken van voorstellingen geven makers van DIEHELEDING les op dekunstvakopleidingen muziektheater en de toneelschool van ArtEZ, HKU en ATKA en geven we les aan o.a. jongeren bij DOX, Jonge Harten Festival in Groningen en 39 Graden festival in Breda. Voor ieder project werkt DIEHELEDING samen met andere acteurs, makers en muzikanten, die zich op tijdelijke basis als volwaardig lid bij het collectief voegen. Daardoor bestaat het collectief uit mensen die nooit hetzelfde voelen of denken. DIEHELEDING gelooft dat die verschillendheid hun kracht is. De meerstemmigheid als stem, omdat ze geloven dat alleen dat een waarachtige representatie van de mens is.

ENG // DIEHELEDING is a music theater collective based in Utrecht that has been creating performances since 2016, primarily in the genre of Hip Hop. They write their own texts and produce their own music. The core members of DIEHELEDING are Steven Ivo, Merel Pauw, and Jip Vuik, with regular guest actors and creators such as Dalorim Wartes, Nick Livramento Silva, and Julie Mughunda. The business leadership is handled by Juul Spoor.

Their previous successes include “Lil’ Ariel Black” in 2017 and “Fox Populi,” a theater hit at de Parade in 2018. From 2019 to 2021, they created productions under de Nieuwe Makersregeling of the FPK (Performing Arts Fund NL) in collaboration with DOX and Theater Utrecht. These productions included “1001” (2019), “DIEHELEDING KOMT” (2020), “Fokking Akward” (2020), and “Dashboard” (2021). In 2019, they won the DOX AWARD, and in 2022, they received a Silver Cricket (zilveren krekel) for “De Baron van Munchhausen” (7+) in collaboration with Theater Sonnevanck. Additionally, their work was mentioned in NRC as the best theater text of 2022 and one of the best youth theater productions of 2022.

Besides creating performances, DIEHELEDING’s members also teach at art schools, including music theater and drama schools such as ArtEZ, HKU, and ATKA. They also conduct workshops for young people at organizations like DOX, Jonge Harten Festival in Groningen, and 39 Graden festival in Breda.

For each project, DIEHELEDING collaborates with different actors, creators, and musicians who temporarily join the collective as full-fledged members. This diversity is considered their strength, and they believe in the power of multiple voices, as they view it as the only genuine representation of humanity
